Numbered and signed giclée print - Lillehammer
This giclée print reproduces the Birkebeiner motif from Lillehammer with clear lines and calm contrast. The starting point is an impression from Storgata – the city's open thoroughfare – where the symbolism of the municipal coat of arms gains an everyday presence, while at the same time pointing far back in time.
The birch bark in the motif is linked to the saga of the journey over the mountain with the royal child Håkon Håkonsson in the winter of 1205–1206, and the coat of arms was originally drawn by Andreas Bloch in 1898. Above the shield stands the wall crown with three towers, in line with the European system of the time, where the towers were supposed to express protection of the citizens.
